What is Forward Counting?

  • Forward counting is when we start from a number and count up higher.
  • It usually starts from 1, like saying "1, 2, 3, 4, 5".
  • We count more and more, getting bigger numbers.
Examples:
  • Counting toys:
    • If you have 3 toy cars, you can count them like this: "1 car, 2 cars, 3 cars."
    • Your friends might have more cars, so you can keep counting!

  • Counting steps:
    • When you walk, you can count each step: "1 step, 2 steps, 3 steps, 4 steps."
    • This helps you count how far you go!

  • Counting slices of pizza:
    • If you have a pizza cut into 8 slices, you can count them: "1 slice, 2 slices, 3 slices."
    • You can find out how many slices are left to eat!
