How do we read temperature on a thermometer?
- A thermometer is a tool that tells us how hot or cold something is.
- The temperature is usually shown in numbers on a scale.
- There are two common scales: Celsius (C) and Fahrenheit (F).
- To read it, you look where the liquid inside (like mercury or alcohol) stops.
- If the red liquid is at a line that says "20," it means it is 20 degrees!
Examples:
- Feeling the weather:
- When it's sunny, the thermometer might show a higher number, like 30C.
- On a cold day, it could show lower, like -5C.
- Checking water temperature:
- If you want to know if a bath is warm, you can look at a thermometer.
- If it's 37C, the water is just right!
- Cooking food:
- When baking, you can use a thermometer to check if the oven is at 180C.
- That's the right temperature for many yummy cakes!
