The Unicus Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (UAIO) is a global competitive exam which presents Class 1 students with the world of artificial intelligence in an easy, age-related and engaging manner.
It is a Class 1 AI Olympiad aimed at creating early recognition of smart machines, patterns, sequencing, input and output, and the difference between humans and intelligent systems. At this point, the exam is not concentrated on technical complexity. Rather, it makes young learners observe, think, compare and apply simple ideas in a significant manner.
Given the learning level of the Class 1 students, UAIO promotes the exploration of the concepts of AI by children with the help of practical, tool-agnostic and concept-focused questions. The goal is not to memorise but to formulate logic and practical knowledge, as well as make the learning process fun and confidence-building since childhood.
Unicus conducts this exam in the form of an online artificial intelligence Olympiad (Class 1) and also enables students to take this exam at any time and place (from the comfort of their homes). The test is a multiple-choice exam that has questions on the basic topics of AI that are particularly made to address the needs of young learners.
There are a total of 30 questions in the exam of Class 1. Among them, 20 questions are from the Classic Section, and 10 questions are from the Scholar Section. The Classic Section has 1 mark per question, and the Scholar Section has 2 marks per question, with an overall total of 40 marks.
The exam duration is 45 minutes. Students will respond to the objective-type questions with three choices for each question, which will normally be in the form of 'a', 'b', or 'c'.
No negative marking in the exam.
The test will be divided into two parts:
The Classic Section means questions concerning fundamental concepts and basic applications.
The Scholar Section encompasses questions in higher-order thinking that are based on analysis, comparison, cross-topic reasoning and simple scenario-based application of the same syllabus.
Language: British English
Note: It should be noted that parent/teacher-assisted exams will be used in class 1.
The idea behind the UAIO syllabus of Class 1 is to present students with the fundamentals of the field of artificial intelligence in a way that is exciting, engaging and age-friendly. The syllabus is theory-based and does not require previous knowledge of the code. It makes children know the behaviour of smart systems and how instructions can operate, as well as how machines can help people in their daily lives.
The Class 1 syllabus deals with the following:
Smart Machines Around Us
Delivering Instructions (Sequencing)
Patterns and Sorting
Inputs and Outputs
Humans vs Smart Machines
Robots and Smart Helpers
These themes are chosen to form a basic concept of AI by observation, recognition and simple logical thought processes. The questions are tool-neutral, implying that the students are examined based on concepts and logic, as opposed to expertise in software.
The syllabus is also balanced in both parts of the exam. The Classic Section tests basic knowledge, and the Scholar Section challenges the students to use the same ideas more reflectively.
Class 1 Preparation: Preparation for the Unicus Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (UAIO) can be a very exciting and fun learning experience among young students. This is the stage where one should prepare in terms of simplicity by looking at ideas through simple examples of life in life and not in terms of studying or even at a higher level.
By using the help of parents and teachers, children can learn to pay attention to the smart machines that surround them, learn to use simple step-by-step instructions, learn to recognise patterns, learn to compare humans and machines, and learn to look at how robots and assistants are used in various situations. This makes AI learning significant and easier to recall.
Because the UAIO is grounded on reasoning and applied knowledge, the systematic use of simple MCQs, picture comparisons, sequencing activities, and classification exercises can enable students to be more confident. It is more important to make the child think, observe and make a choice rationally.
One should prepare better by considering the following points:
learn a single subject at a time in a naive manner.
Practice realising intelligent machines in the real-life environment.
Answer simple sequencing and pattern problems regularly.
Understand the distinction between the actions of a machine and a human being.
Use simple real-life examples of inputs and outputs.
Answer by using sample papers and topic questions.
With constant exposure to such questions, the students get used to the Olympiad format and also enhance their confidence and conceptual knowledge.
In the case of Class 1 of AI Olympiad registration, students would be required to go through the registration process at their school or individually. Any eligible student is welcome to the Olympiad. The specifications to follow so as to have a seamless registration process are given below.
