Why are Flowers Important to Plants?

  • Flowers help plants make seeds, which grow into new plants.
  • They attract bees, butterflies, and other animals that help with this process.
  • Flowers come in many colors and shapes to catch the eyes of these helpful animals.

Example 1: A bee visits a flower to drink nectar, and while doing so, it helps move pollen to another flower, allowing new seeds to be made.

Example 2: A butterfly lands on a colorful flower to sip sweet liquid and helps flowers grow by spreading pollen to other flowers.

Example 3: In a garden, bright flowers attract many insects that help fertilize the flowers so they can produce more seeds!

Fun Fact: Without flowers, many plants wouldn't be able to create seeds, and we wouldn't have as many beautiful plants in the world!
