Which Unit is the Largest?

  • When we talk about units, we mean how we measure things like length, weight, or volume.
  • Some common units are inches, feet, yards, and miles for length.
  • If we compare them, a mile is the largest unit of length!
Examples:
  • Measuring distance:
    • If you walk 1 mile, it's much longer than just walking 1 foot or 1 yard!

  • Maps:
    • If a map shows 1 mile from your house to the park, it's much farther than saying it's 1 inch away!

  • Running a race:
    • A mile race is much longer than a short sprint of 100 feet!
