Which has more capacity, a cup or a spoon?

  • A cup is a container that can hold more liquid than a spoon.
  • When you drink from a cup, you can sip a big gulp!
  • A spoon is much smaller, so it holds just a little bit of food or liquid.
Examples:
  • Drinking water:
    • If you fill a cup, it can hold a whole glass of water.
    • If you use a spoon, it can only hold a small splash of water.

  • Serving soup:
    • A cup can hold enough soup for one person to enjoy.
    • A spoon can only hold a spoonful of soup at a time!

  • Measuring flour:
    • When baking, a cup of flour is needed for a big cake.
    • A spoon can only hold a little bit of flour, just a small taste!
