What is Water Pollution?

• Water pollution happens when harmful things mix with our water.
• This makes the water dirty and unsafe for plants, animals, and people.
• Water can be polluted by trash, chemicals, and waste from factories.
• It can hurt the fish and other creatures living in the water.

Examples:

• If someone throws plastic bottles into a river, it can make the water polluted.
• When farmers use too many chemicals on their crops, these can wash into lakes and rivers.
• Also, if a factory dumps dirty water into the ocean, it can harm sea animals.

Fun Fact: Clean water is very important! We use it to drink, swim, and grow food, so we need to keep it safe and clean!
