What is the Moon?

• The Moon is a big rock that circles around our Earth.
• It shines at night because it reflects sunlight.
• The Moon helps create tides in the oceans with its gravity.
• It has a rough, rocky surface with craters, just like a giant ball.

Examples:

• When you look at the Moon in the sky, it can look like a bright circle.
• Sometimes the Moon looks like a half-circle; we call this a "half moon."
• When it's full, the Moon is really bright and lights up the night!

Fun Fact: The Moon is the only place beyond Earth where humans have walked! They left footprints that won't wash away for a very long time!
