What is Skip Counting?
- Skip counting means counting numbers by adding the same number again and again.
- Instead of saying "1, 2, 3, 4," we might say "2, 4, 6, 8" (counting by twos!).
- It helps to count things faster.
Examples:
- Counting fingers on hands:
- If you count the fingers on your two hands, you can skip count by 5: "5, 10."
- Each hand has 5 fingers.
- Counting pairs of shoes:
- If you have pairs of shoes, you can count them by 2's.
- "2 shoes, 4 shoes, 6 shoes, 8 shoes."
- Counting coins:
- If you have groups of 10 coins, you can count those groups by 10.
- "10 coins, 20 coins, 30 coins."
