What is Currency?

  • Currency is the money that people use to buy things.
  • It can be coins or paper notes. Each country has its own type of currency.
  • People use currency to pay for food, clothes, toys, and more.
Examples:
  • Buying Snacks:
    • If you want a chocolate bar, you might give the shopkeeper a 1 coin.
    • This 1 coin is your currency for buying yummy snacks!

  • At the Toy Store:
    • If you see a toy car that costs $5, you need to use your currency to buy it.
    • You could hand over a note with 5 on it to pay for that toy!

  • Paying for a Ride:
    • When you ride the bus, you might pay 2 with your currency.
    • This way, you can go to school or visit your friend's house!
