What is Capacity?

  • Capacity tells us how much something can hold inside it.
  • We use it for containers like bottles, cups, or boxes.
  • We measure capacity in litres or millilitres.
Examples:
  • A water bottle:
    • If a bottle holds 1 litre of water, that is its capacity.
    • It can fill up your glass many times!

  • A cereal box:
    • If a cereal box can hold 500 millilitres of cereal, that's its capacity.
    • You could pour it into a bowl for breakfast!

  • A toy box:
    • If a toy box can hold 10 toys, that is its capacity.
    • It helps keep your room tidy!
