What is Air Pollution?

  • Air pollution is when the air around us gets dirty or filled with harmful things.
  • This can happen because of smoke from cars or factories, and from trash that is burned.
  • Air pollution can make it hard to breathe and can hurt plants and animals.

Examples:

  • When cars and trucks drive around, they let out smoke that pollutes the air.
  • Sometimes, people burn their garbage, and this makes smoke that goes into the air.
  • Factories that make things can put out harmful chemicals that mix with the air.

Fun Fact: Plants help clean the air by using carbon dioxide and giving us back fresh oxygen to breathe!
