What is a Missing Number?

  • A missing number is a number that is not shown but should be there.
  • It's like finding out what number fits in a puzzle.
  • We can figure it out by looking at the other numbers around it.
Examples:
  • Finding numbers in a number sentence:
    • If we see 3 + __ = 5, the missing number is 2!

  • Missing numbers on a number line:
    • If the number line shows 1, 2, ___, 4, we can say the missing number is 3!
