What does AM and PM mean?

  • AM and PM help us understand time during the day.
  • AM means "Ante Meridiem," which is Latin for "before midday" or "before noon."
  • PM means "Post Meridiem," which means "after midday" or "after noon."
  • This way, we know if it's morning or afternoon when we tell the time.
Examples:
  • Breakfast time:
    • If you wake up at 8 AM, it's morning time, and you might have breakfast.
    • So, 8 AM is a good time to eat breakfast!

  • Watching a movie:
    • If your movie starts at 3 PM, it's in the afternoon.
    • So, you can have lunch before going to the movie!

  • Bedtime:
    • If it's 9 PM, it's time to get ready for bed.
    • 9 PM is night time, which means it's time to sleep!
