What is a Decreasing Pattern?
- A decreasing pattern is when numbers or things go down or get smaller one after the other.
- It's like counting backwards or taking away the same number each time.
- You can see this kind of pattern in lots of places, like in nature or when we're playing games!
Examples:
- Counting down from 10:
- If you start at 10 and take away 1 each time, you say "10, 9, 8, 7..." down to 1.
- Steps down a staircase:
- If you step down from the top of 5 stairs, you go from 5 stairs to 4 stairs.
- Then, you step down to 3, then to 2, then to 1!
- Pizza slices:
- If you have 8 slices of pizza and eat one slice, you then have 7 slices left.
- Then, if you eat another one, you have 6 slices, and so on!
