What do the pictures in a pictograph mean?
- A pictograph is a way to show information using pictures or symbols.
- Each picture stands for a specific number of things.
- For example, one picture might mean one apple or five apples, depending on how it's set up.
- This makes it easy to see and compare information quickly.
Examples:
- Fruit Chart:
- If one picture shows one banana, and there are 4 pictures, that means there are 4 bananas.
- So, you can easily see how many bananas there are!
- Pets:
- If each dog picture in a chart stands for 2 dogs, and there are 3 pictures, that means there are 6 dogs in total.
- It helps to see how many pets people have.
- Students in Class:
- If one picture of a student stands for 3 students, and there are 5 pictures, that means 15 students are in the class.
- This shows how big the class is really quickly!
