What are Even Numbers?

  • Even numbers are special numbers that can be divided by 2 without leaving anything left over.
  • They always end in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8.
  • When you skip count by 2 starting from 0, you say even numbers.
Examples:
  • Counting balls:
    • If you have 4 balls, and you put them in pairs, you can pair them up as (1 and 2), (3 and 4).
    • 4 can be divided into 2 groups of 2!

  • Even steps:
    • When you walk in even steps, you might say "2 steps, 4 steps, 6 steps, 8 steps."
    • You can always arrive at the even numbers!

  • Counting cookies:
    • If you bake 10 cookies, you can share them with a friend equally.
    • Each of you will get 5 cookies, which is a nice even number!
