What are 2D Shapes?

  • 2D shapes are flat shapes that have two dimensions: length and width.
  • They do not have thickness and can be seen on paper or screens.
  • Common 2D shapes include circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles.
Examples:
  • Drawing a square:
    • A square has four equal sides and looks like a box.
    • When you draw a square, you can create a window shape!

  • Making circles:
    • A circle has no corners and is round like a pizza.
    • You can draw circles when you make wheels or balloons!

  • Shapes in nature:
    • A leaf can be a shape with pointy edges, like a triangle.
    • The sun is often drawn as a circle with rays coming out!
