How Many Hands Does a Clock Have?

  • A clock has three hands that help us tell time.
  • Each hand moves at different speeds and shows different things.
  • The short hand tells the hour, the long hand shows the minutes, and the thinnest hand is the second hand that ticks away the seconds.
Examples:
  • Hour hand:
    • The hour hand moves slowly around the clock, pointing to numbers like 1, 2, or 3.
    • It helps us know what hour it is.

  • Minute hand:
    • The minute hand moves faster than the hour hand and helps us count minutes.
    • When it points to 12, that means a new hour is starting.

  • Second hand:
    • The second hand is very thin and moves quickly around the clock.
    • It shows how many seconds have passed.
