How many days are in a year and a leap year?
- A normal year has 365 days.
- A leap year has 366 days.
- Leap years happen every 4 years to help keep our calendar in line with the Earth's movement around the Sun.
Examples:
- Normal Year Example:
- If you count from January 1st to December 31st in a regular year, you will find 365 days.
- That's one whole year!
- Leap Year Example:
- In a leap year, there is an extra day on February 29th.
- This happens every four years like in 2020 or 2024!
- Counting Days:
- When you start counting from the first day of January a normal year has 12 months all adding up to 365 days.
- But in a leap year, you add one day, giving 366 days!
