How does a weighing balance work?

  • A weighing balance is a tool that helps us find out how heavy something is.
  • It has two sides to measure weight equally.
  • When we put something on one side, the balance will tip if it's heavier.
  • To find the weight of things, we add weights to the other side until they balance.
Examples:
  • Measuring fruits:
    • If you put an apple on one side, you can add weights until the balance is level.
    • This helps you know how heavy the apple is!

  • Checking books:
    • If you have a few books, you can put them on one side of the balance.
    • Add weights to the other side to find out how heavy the books are.

  • Measuring ingredients:
    • When you bake, you can use a balance to measure flour or sugar.
    • Put the flour on one side and add weights on the other to get the right amount!
