What is a Pattern?

  • A pattern is something that repeats in a certain way.
  • It can be shapes, colours, or numbers that follow a specific order.
  • Patterns help us understand what comes next.
Examples:
  • Colour pattern:
    • If you have red, blue, red, blue, what comes next? That's right, red!
    • You can use colours of your toys to make patterns too!

  • Shape pattern:
    • If you see a circle, square, circle, square, what do you think comes next?
    • It's a circle! You can use blocks or drawings to create shapes patterns.

  • Number pattern:
    • If you count by 2s like this: 2, 4, 6, what comes next?
    • That's right, 8! You can use numbers in games to practice patterns.
