What is a Number Pattern?

  • A number pattern is a special way of arranging numbers that follow a rule.
  • It helps us see how numbers are connected or how they change.
  • For example, if you have a pattern, you can guess the next number!
Examples:
  • Counting by Twos:
    • The pattern: 2, 4, 6, 8...
    • You add 2 each time to get to the next number.

  • Counting by Fives:
    • The pattern: 5, 10, 15, 20...
    • You add 5 each time to get to the next number.

  • Counting Odd Numbers:
    • The pattern: 1, 3, 5, 7...
    • In this pattern, you add 2 each time, skipping even numbers.
