What is the Boiling Point of Water?

  • The boiling point of water is when water gets really hot and starts to change from a liquid to steam.
  • This happens at 100 degrees Celsius or 212 degrees Fahrenheit at sea level.
  • When water boils, you can see bubbles and steam rising from it.
Examples:
  • Cooking Pasta:
    • When you boil water to cook pasta, it bubbles and makes steam when it reaches 100 degrees Celsius.

  • Making Tea:
    • If you heat water in a kettle for tea, listen for the kettle whistle when it boils.

  • Boiling an Egg:
    • When you put an egg in boiling water, the water must be really hot, at its boiling point.
